About Us
The Royal South Hants Hospital (more commonly known as the RSH) has been operating on its current site for nearly 170 years.
With the development of the Southampton General Hospital, a teaching hospital and the city’s only Emergency Department, the RSH has focussed on becoming a community hospital in recent times.
Southampton City Primary Care Trust assumed control of the hospital in 2007. Since then, the trust has split in to two independent areas of health – NHS Southampton City, which runs the general administration of the RSH, and Solent Healthcare, which manages the various services provided.
The hospital has seen a significant amount of investment to help build for the future. A complete renovation of the car parking facilities on site is in progress to provide the best access for those who need it the most. Also, a new adult mental health unit - Antelope House - is due to open this year.
